If you haven't read AngryBlackBitch and her very insightful comments, go do so. I'm so glad to see I wasn't the only one extremely put off by the "But what about US???" and "We all thought of 911!" tone of the US media coverage. The Europeans just reported the story, which was horrible and sad enough to be newsworthy without making it About US!!!! Are we really such a nation of self-absorbed crybaby chickenshits at this point that when anything happens to other people, we can only relate to it as a "What if it happened here?" story? Or are we just getting fed bullshit by a corporate owned and operated media that wants to guide how we view events?
I'm deeply embarrassed by our news media. But not by our country, because I think the majority of Americans think this is bullshit, but don't know what to do about it.
