I was going to take a walk without the dogs, but Murphy of course would have none of that. To my surprise, Sophie leaped up and danced around to come with us, and to my even greater surprise, once she got out in the snow (let's remember, this is deeper snow than either dog has seen before, and she did NOT enjoy the earlier snow experiences) she decided that she LOVED it! She danced and snorted and frog-hopped around, waded chest-deep, snorted and hopped some more, and we walked all the way to the end of the street and back. (Murphy tried to convince me that they could make it all the way around the block, but I had a vision of trudging home with a shivering dog under each arm and told him to forget it.)
The snow appears to be tapering off, both dogs are snoring, and I do believe I will spend the afternoon drinking tea, knitting, and admiring the view.
Makes me very homesick for the western NC mountains!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the worst will miss DC, but I get to fly out tomorrow (or not). This is why I got OFF the road 52 weeks a year. But I still get the joy every once in a while.
ReplyDeleteMy dogs usually take one snowfall to get over the excitement, then they remember that they LOVE it. Looks like your pups do too. That Murphy is too cute. Sophie looks like a little 10 pound snowplow.
The word verification is incats- How's Higgins doing?
Kimmen
Higgins is doing great! His eye has healed, he has adjusted to his new canine roommates, and of course already loves Girl and Husband.
