My office is closed, nearly everything is closed around here. There are some hardcore people out on the road, but our company pres and COO decided this morning that it's just not worth the risk to have people out driving around in this. The rain is pounding down, and we're expecting sustained 45 mph winds later, with gusts up to hurricane force. It's ugly but it's not awful, and obviously I have power and cable. I intend to spend the day on the couch, knitting and keeping an ear out for tornado warnings.
Dudley is a very housebroken dog, and he is torn between his hatred of rain and his need to go out and take care of business. He keeps going from the front door to the back - I open the door and show him that the weather is just as bad in the front yard as the back. I think he's finally getting the idea. He did go out this morning, hating every second of it, and ran in and went straight for the towel we'd used to dry off after last night's walk - I'd left it on the floor for just this reason - and proceeded to dry himself on it.
Murphy will just hold it until the storm passes. We call him Old Iron Bladder.
This storm will be follwed by a dramatic drop in temperatures - down into the MID 40s!!! I think it's time to put aside the linen shawl and get back to working on the long-sidelined sweaters.
Fluffy Knitter Deb is going to get pounded a lot harder than I am, keep a good thought for her!
Good thoughts sent down to all of you dealing with Wilma...stay safe and dry...(((hugs))) to Dudley and Murphy, too!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a cat who felt the weather was the responsibility of the person who opened the door for her. She would go to the door to go out, and if I opened the door and it was raining, she'd give me a really dirty look and go find someone else. She once went through every member of the house and finally woke up my brother. Even he couldn't get it right, but if he couldn't, it must be broken. She was pissed at us for days after that.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be thinking of you and the bladder boys!
Wow, Murphy will wait through a whole storm? I wish he could teach me that trick!
ReplyDeleteYou guys stay safe... enjoy the extra knitting time!
