I've never paid much attention to MagKnits - or Knitty, for that matter. I mean, I don't dislike them, I just don't see "eleventy things I must make tomorrow" there. Cute stuff, innovative stuff, but not stuff suitable for my world. But I was wandering through MagKnits archives and found these two:
Short Row Rib Scarf. Girl saw it and now Covets. We need the right colors to go with the bright red coat/jacket she also covets. I know I have Kureyon in the stash that will go beautifully with MY jacket if I desire a new scarf, but nothing to go with her bright red fantasy coat. Suggestions?
And then, there's this: Picovoli That is so flattering - I mean, it does something nice for the Girls but doesn't turn the model into a potato, that is GOOD.
Otherwise, just sittin' around waiting for bad weather. Actually, it's already gray and humid and icky out there, so maybe waiting for WORSE weather is more like it. I spent the day on another obsessive linen project - a washcloth from the leftovers of the baby blanket. I tried three patterns from the Knitter's Stash book and, other than the feather and fan one (okay, we know I love F&F) they were really "eh." I've been picking nicely textured things from the Barbara Walker stitch treasuries and so far double mistake rib looks like a major winner. It's cool looking, it's textured, and it'll lather and exfoliate like crazy. And it's a 4-row repeat you can make while watching a movie. Oh, so important, that.
To compliment red...Lorna's Laces Worsted in Black Watch (dramatic) or Tuscany (romantic) the color bursts would look lovely in that scarf and the yarn is sooooo soft! If you need a source for the LL, email me :)
ReplyDeleteStay safe and dry, if you can, I'm thinking it's either you or me, I hope not both!
Ooh, Lorna's Laces worsted, great idea! I doubt either of us will stay dry, but I think both of us will stay safe, though perhaps majorly inconvenienced. I just wish this thing would get off Mexico and interact with the approaching fronts and Get Off the Pot. This is so tedious. The great news for us is the 50 degree low on Tuesday and Wednesday! Ooooooh!
ReplyDeleteHey! Thanks for the link to Picolino. Yum.
