It's official, I am a caffeine addict. Not just any old caffeine, but Starbucks High Octane.
I woke up this morning and decided that I'm sick of making coffee on the tiny bathroom vanity, so I went straight to the iced tea in the fridge. Within two hours a headache of brain-crushing intensity set in. I took something for it. Nothing. I figured the paint smells were getting to me, so I went out to run some errands, tired and in pain. Headache got worse. Finally it dawned on me that this might be a caffeine withdrawal headache, so just to test it I came home and made a pot of coffee, and I'm on my second large mug and my head feels EVER so much better. So there you have it, lessons learned today: I really am addicted to coffee, if I ever have a reason to give up caffeine I definitely have to go on the gradual withdrawal method, and iced tea, even caffeinated tea, is no substitute for the True Elixir of Life.
I changed my mind about dropping the cats at the vet's for the duration. They got through the ripping out process on Friday with a minimum of hysteria, they were a tad buggy-eyed but not crazed, and they were totally fine once the power tools were turned off. They are not young cats and they are very set in their ways, it's hard to say which would upset them more, the construction or being away from home, but at least at night the house is quiet and they can sleep in their own familiar house. So we'll see how they do.
The cabinets are here as of an hour ago and I opened the first box to take a peek and saw that the dovetail at the bottom of the doors has a color irregularity. It's hard to tell when looking at the upside-down edge of a cabinet in a box in a hot garage, but Kraftmaid, we may have a Problem. I called Home Depot and reported this to the kitchen guy, who said just make a note of the doors that aren't right and they'll take care of it. I documented on the receiving list that I'd called HD to report a color irregularity. I'm not worried about it, one thing I know how to do is follow up on getting stuff fixed. It may not be a problem, if it looks okay and is consistent it becomes a Design Feature, but we'll see what we have when they're all up and in.
And I'm very excited at the moment because I think I see Dark Clouds. Please pray/do a rain dance/think wet thoughts for us here in 100 degree and dry Orlanduh. We're cooking what little brains we have here.
Needless to say, no knitting news. I'm crocheting with cotton, swatching washcloth-sized things in different patterns, planning cotton bags with bright linings. That's about it for the fibrous activities.
