I have to share this link with you while I'm thinking of it. I'm not a big fan of Christian art, mostly because so much of it is trite and, well, syrupy. This year the priests of my parish sent out a gorgeous Christmas card with a striking portrait of the Blessed Mother with the Infant Jesus - the image just struck me because it's so beautiful and fresh-looking - I would have said it's impossible to put a fresh spin on so many images that have been done and redone for two millenia, but I love this woman's art! The picture is called "She Shall Bring Forth a Son" by Liz Lemon Swindle. I Googled the artist and found this site: Liz Lemon Swindle. Even if you aren't Christian, or are and share my general distaste for "Christian Art," check out her work. Really good stuff. I need to treat myself to a couple of these small prints.
