Oh my, I really need to get back into shape for these active road trip weekends. I slept for 10 hours last night. I never sleep that long, ever. Before I went into oblivion at around 8 p.m., I told Murphy to leave me alone, and that if the carpet was a bit damp in the morning no accusations would be made, we'd just Not Speak of It. When you're really exhausted a tiny damp spot on the rug seems like a fair price for a long night's sleep. He left me alone, but the carpet was dry, and he was very, very glad when I finally stirred to take him out. He's such a good little boy.

True to my word about taking longer walks, I bundled him into his ratty old sweater (gotta make him a new Kureyon sweater, he deserves it) and bundled myself into sweats and my old down coat, which was purchased for a winter NYC field trip with Girlchild's 6th grade class - Floridians don't need to buy more than one down coat per lifetime. I was amazed to see that the Silk Garden scarf I'd made for myself goes perfectly with this down coat - I didn't plan it that way! We walked briskly and even jogged a bit - actually I jogged, he ran flat out, tongue flapping and hair blown back - around the small lake. I love my house because my neighborhood is full of walking paths, and I have the choice of two lake walks - instead of short business-only (if you get my drift) walkies, Murphy and I are going to start doing the shorter lake walk twice a day, until he builds up his stamina to take on the longer one.

Today I will finish Girlchild's multidirectional scarf and get back to the ribbed cap to go with it. And as I was walking this morning, wearing my cheap stretch gloves from Target (you know, the dollar a pair variety) I realized how much I need fingerless Koigu gloves - they'd be just right for these walks. And of course I have some in my stash, I have almost everything in my stash! Except something rich and feltable to make a felted Bucket-O-Chic - Bonne Marie has sucked me into her spell, I love that hat and am grateful for her detailed how-to instructions, and this morning my ears froze on the walk, and a bucket would be JUST the ticket. I have Cascade 220 in the stash but she said it's not suitable for it, so I'm thinking I need to email the Enablers and get something else - maybe Manos? Yarn opinions, anyone?
