More Mermaids.

So I was drinking my morning coffee and contemplating spending money and googled "Mermaid Jacket" and "knit" and up pops a link to an article from Knitter's Review. Cat Bordhi mentions in the article that she is making the blue green version. There is another shot of the jacket in red. I'm still on the fence. I did find this fantastic page with close-ups of the jacket and color combinations. I like too many of them! Now I love 3, 6, 7 AND 9.

  1. Being practical, I would lean toward 6, because it likely would knit up as classic and elegant and the grey colourway would go with everything.

Next to that, the orange. Because you can bet that few people are going to choose that colourway or #8 (the purple) because they're such strong colours.

    Mmm, 6 and 7...

If only a) I was a good enough knitter and b) I were small enough! :-)

Whichever you choose, they're all gorgeous.

Out of the ones you mentioned, I like 6 & 7 the best. 7 is more "go with anything" but they're both gorgeous. I think with 3 & 9, the colors are so close that you lose some of those beautiful vertical lines... Just a though. Personally, I love #2, and you're tempting me!

I bought that magazine for the same reasons as you, first one I'd bought out of all of them that I'd seen. I'm leaning towards number 7 for myself. Number 3 would be my next choice

  5. i've bought knitting a couple of times, and if i could swing the exorbitant price, i'd subscribe. i've loved it both times. and you have lovely taste in mermaids. i love all of them, and i too am disappointed that the black/cypress/kingfisher doesn't ahve a picture. wonder if that means they're out of it (heaven forbid!)

  6. Oh, excellent point about losing the details/contrast in some of those combinations! Now that I've talked myself into making it, I need to make a decision!

for me, it's a choice between 7 and 8. At the moment, 8 is winning.

  8. I LOVE #8 and I bet #10 is pretty spetacular (from the description!) you should try to get a pic of that if black white and khaki with pink accents are your colors.

This is bad - not only am I getting hooked on your blog, I just ordered Mermaid...I'm a tad worried about the scatchiness, but know it will soften, and I like knitting with small needles.
