Ask Me about My Grandlizard!

See, that digital camera for Christmas was not wasted on the girlchild, she sent baby pictures. This is my grandlizard, Thor. He is a (young) Savannah Monitor. For those reptile defenders out there, he was not acquired from a pet shop, but from a reptile guy, and he is in good hands with my daughter and her boyfriend, they are fairly obsessed with proper reptile care. I had some concerns when she and her boyfriend took on such a high-maintenance reptile with a rep for not being easy to tame. I am an iguana gal myself, I love them. We had one until he hit about 4.5 feet, then we gave him to a reptile nut vet tech and her son, because he had outgrown his habitat and building a sunroom for the iguana was not in the budget. If I won the lottery I'd add an iguana and a parrot to the household zoo. But I digress...Thor was acquired young and is taming nicely, he is a lap lizard. Doesn't he have the most intelligent little face? I wasn't a reptile person until we had the iguana, he was so full of personality, not something one ordinarily associates with a reptile.

Yoga will start on Saturday. I called about the Monday class and it was already pretty much at capacity. I'm much better with a Saturday class, much more likely to, uh, stay awake for it.

I chickened out on the Balance color and went with the Cream in My Coffee for the hallway. This color is very nice, but a bitch to use, especially in semi-gloss in a hallway full of angles and shadows. I can see shadows and streaks every time I turn around, and am going blind on touch-ups. For this reason, as well as the scheduling of the yoga class, I have bumped carpet installation to January 17. I can spare the day, and if I can't, the Boy is off and can be drafted.

And just to give you something somewhat fiber-related, here's a close-up of the Lion Brand Incredible crocheted scarf, single crocheted lengthwise from my own un-pattern.

I'm also working on a throw pillow - blue cotton, tunisian crochet, with crocheted flowers to be added later. Don't ask me where all this crochet is coming from - perhaps it's a response to our latest weather mood swing - from freezing to mid-70s almost overnight. Yes, I'll be cursing my lack of gloves in another week. Still working on the shrug. Still working on leper bandages. Still socking along. That's about all that's on the active rotation - we won't talk about the stuff in cold storage.

  1. I haven't seen that brand of ribbon yarn before, but it works up very nicely. I love the colours. Does it come multicoloured, or are you combining several skeins?

  2. It's a multicolored ribbon, I think that color is called City Lights, or something like that. It's much prettier "in person," it's very shiny and softer than it looks.

  3. Thanks. I just might have to get myself some of that. I love the colourway.
