No paint touched a wall yesterday.

I did buy paint - American Traditions in "Balance," a warm cream color, a bit richer than the color I used in the kitchen.

And I bought groceries. And I put up the tree. And that was about it. I slept 10 hours Thursday night and dragged all day - I think too much sleep is worse than not enough. Last night I managed 8 hours, despite some ramdom unpleasant dreams and a cat conflict of some sort around 1 a.m.

A cold front came through yesterday and temps dropped accordingly, to something more seasonal. We were insanely, unseasonably warm the past few days - over 80 degrees. A front passed through this afternoon, and the temps are falling about 3 degrees an hour - right now it's in the upper 60s, but lows are going to be in the mid-40s this weekend. Turn off A/C, turn on heat. Turn off heat, turn on A/C. Repeat until it's time to turn on the A/C and leave it on - sometime in April, usually.

I am gripped by Startitis. I thumbed through books and eventually picked up a size N crochet hook and a skein of Cascade 220, and crocheted a small bowl. Don't ask me why. I will throw this baby in the machine and felt it and see what we get.

It will be small, because in pre-felted form it's only about 4 inches high. I'm just testing the concept of felting a crocheted circle - which way will it shrink, how will the finished shape turn out? If the shape holds as I think it will, the possibility of a crocheted bucket bag beckons.

I did knit a bit - a few rows on the Sockotta sock and a few on the oatmeal cardie, but when one is tired and in need of bright stimulation, an oatmeal-colored cardigan just ain't it. I want to knit something RED. I need red.

I did not make my bed yesterday. I could not look at this sleeping cat

and force him to move. He's so sweet, especially when he's asleep. He's not so sweet when he's on the table eating the ARTIFICIAL Advent wreath greenery and puking up the pieces. A lovely pastime also practiced by his adorable sibling, Miss Roadkill:

Today and tomorrow it's Painting Crunch Time. I've decided to blow off messing with another coat of that rather unimpressive primer and go directly to applying the paint over the blotchy primed wall. Two coats of paint, if needed, will be better than a second of that primer.

I haven't done a damn thing about fixing my sidebar yet. I really need to do it, because I have quite a few good links to share. In the meantime, here's a link to the latest from Tom Tomorrow. Read the editorial linked under the entry "Been Busy." If the entry itself doesn't make you loathe Rush Limbaugh and the other fatass chickenhawks as the disgusting piles of excrement they are, nothing will. Our troops in Iraq apparently are just a bunch of whiners to Limbaugh. That's how these right-wing assholes "support" the troops. It's just so disgustingly loathsome, words fail me.

I stumbled across Making Light - I can't remember how.

And now I will close myself in the Girl's room and crack open a can of Balance. That's the name of this paint color. In all the shades of cream, this is the one that called to me as The One. I can't imagine why....

  1. Totally unrelated to your post - although your cats are cute -

what do you use to get your pictures into your blog? I also use blogger and I'm having a hell of a time editing my previous entries to add pictures, using hello/picasa. Any advice? Thanks!
