Eukanuba National Championship 2012

Celebrate Dogs!

I had never met a Russian Toy before.

Some breed groups do incredibly elaborate displays for Meet the Breeds.

My daughter was invited to pose with the "Toto Dogs!"

The Borzoi Express

Mastiff Castle

Mastiff Kissy Attack!

Delaney got lots of doggy kisses

She liked it.

225 pounds of love.

Head shown actual size.
Yesterday was a lot of fun, but going to the show with a 14 month old is not as easy as going with a 2 month old. Last year all she needed was an occasional diaper change or nursing break.  This year, we had to keep her entertained. Food helped, and we kept moving, watching the entertainment stuff - there were some amazing performing dogs, and high jumping dogs, and Miss D enjoyed that stuff very much.

Once again, she was loved on by the biggest dogs there - this mastiff just cracked us up!  He was sprawled on the floor in front of the Mastiff Castle, just hanging out looking magnificent, until my daughter bent down to give Delaney a closer look.  He saw a little person and lumbered to his feet to come say hi, and kissed her with a tongue the size of a hand towel.  She's already a crazy dog lady at the age of one, so she wasn't a bit afraid.

By mid-afternoon we were pretty much wiped out, so we said goodbye to the doggies for another year. I believe Orlando is hosting this event for the next couple of years, and we will definitely do it again.

My Yorkie, Hannah, will be 12 in April. I had to buy food for her today. She has always eaten IAMS, and when I was looking at the bags in the store, I discovered that at her age, she is beyond adult or even senior food---she is now in the "senior plus" catagory. (?) I bought the same stuff in the blue bag that I always buy, but when I got home, I did ask her if she knows she is now officially older than dirt. (I also felt the kibbles through the bag to make sure they weren't too big for her t-tiny little microscopic Yorkie mouth.) After visiting the IAMS website, I'm still not sure what is so different about the food formulated for ancient dogs. (?)

  2. Murphy will be THIRTEEN in March! He may be ancient and toothless, but he doesn't appear to notice.
