Wild Thang Update.

My daughter reported last night that Miss D took a 4 hour nap (running Grandma ragged is hard work!) and woke up her sunny self, and was shaking her booty to a Gloria Estefan song on TV.

My daughter texted me late today:

"I accidentally woke the beast trying to put her down in the bed.  She's pure evil when tired."

I of course replied "No shit!!"  :-)

Teething woes or growth spurt, I hope this phase passes soon. I'm pretty sure it will; she's basically a happy, sunny little girl unless she gets overtired, then it's like letting a Gremlin get wet.

Though it really was funny to argue with an 11 month old.  My daughter told me the other day that she'd had her first "argument," and I got to experience it.

D got into something that is a BIG NO!! like the fireplace, or pulling Dudley's tail,  and I grabbed her away and told her sternly, "NO!"  And tried to redirect her with a toy at the other end of the room.

And she pulled away and yelled back, "YEAH!"  And went right back to the NO! and tried to do it again.

"NO!"
"YEAH!"
"NO! That is a NO!"
 "YEAH!"

It's really hard to keep a straight face when you realize that you have been drawn into arguing with an 11 month old, and she's not backing down.  Redirect.  Redirect again. REDIRECT HER AGAIN, OMG, JUST PLAY WITH ONE OF THE DOZENS OF TOYS ON THE FLOOR AND LEAVE THE FIREPLACE AND THE DOG'S TAIL ALONE FOR CHRISSAKE!

NO!
YEAH!

She's a trip.  Just don't get her wet or feed her after midnight.

Oh dear, that sounds just like Anne Louise at the same age: Born to be a Bush Lawyer! with a will of iron.
A bit of a shock after her biddable, easy-going brother.
I must admit to busting a gusset laughing at Miss D and my own memories

  2. Oh, a day later and after a night's sleep I think she's priceless, but she sure is giving her parents a run for their money at this stage. It's that frustrating not having enough words point when she has so much to say and not the words to say it yet. This will pass, and I'm betting very soon.

  3. Little pistols who grow up with love and boundaries turn into kick-ass adults! She'll be a wonderful when she's all growed up, and there'll be plenty of wonderful along the way. Just keep taking your vitamins!
