When Will I LEARN?

If you market yourself in your own neighborhood and dare take a lazy day off to sit around knitting, doing chores, etc. while looking like a bum, and then take the dogs out for a quick walk before their dinner, you will OF COURSE run into half a dozen neighbors with their dogs, and the dogs want to visit and the humans want to chat, while you are:
wearing no makeup;
one notch up from true bed head;
wearing your most ancient jeans and a faded t-shirt;
and are trying to control two excited dogs while holding a bag of poop.
Sigh.

There is something to be said for picking farm areas away from home, I think.

That said, I did actually knit today!  I've picked up the baby blanket I'd started for Miss D many months ago.  She had no need for it all summer of course, but my goal is to get it done in time for her first birthday next month.  Yes, she will be ONE next month.   She's not quite solo walking yet but is very close - she has enough sense to know that faceplants on tile floors hurt, so she's cautious.  She's definitely talking with real words - my daughter bought her a sippy cup with a cat on it, and she smiled and announced, "Kitty!"

She says Dada and finally says Mama, and calls Layla and I think I've heard her call Dudee, but she's truly a cat person from birth.  She loved Higgins at first sight, and all kitties make her happy.  She feeds herself, makes her opinions known, explores with confidence, and is a bright, happy KID already!  She's tall and looks a whole lot like her mommy's baby pictures, but her facial expressions are totally her daddy. She's growing up way too fast for all of us.

I took today as a day off because my September calendar is crazy busy.  I'm feeling preemptively overwhelmed - but in a good way.
