Next Day Off: Tuesday, Maybe

Unless something comes up, in which case, I might come up for air on Thursday.  But it's actually interesting, useful, important Stuff - if it came with a guaranteed paycheck it would be fabulous, but such is the life of the self employed.  I'm working now to make money later, I hope.

And at 8 a.m. Monday I have my desperately needed eye doctor appointment, which means that I really shouldn't wear my contacts this weekend.  I wear rigid gas permeable lenses, and I've been told by more than one doctor that they can sort of reshape your corneas with daily wear.  I think of this as my corneas wearing a push-up bra, and unlike removing the push-up bra, the corneas can take a few days to resume their natural shape.

If I want glasses I can actually WEAR, vs. the cute but useless pair I have now, I really should wear the cute but useless all weekend, and let my corneas breathe free.  This would be fine, except I'm working this weekend, and I can't see my freaking computer with the cute but useless.  Otherwise, I can drive (the distance portion is actually quite good) and function, but since reading, and reading small print with important stuff written on it, is sort of, yanno, an important function of my job, I am not sure how this will work out.

I made a vegetable couscous for dinner.  Meh.  I still don't "get" couscous, and the veggie concoction was disappointing despite the interesting combination of spices.  Just a big blah all around.

Dinner break's over, back to work stuff. I promise I will put it down and knit at 8.

  1. I think couscous are merely an excuse for butter. At least that's what passes for theory in this house, and explains my reluctance to go vegan. But I was just watching Bill Clinton, Rock Star, so I'm going to give it another thought.

  2. Vegan is a lot more interesting than couscous in any flavoring. I really am in heaven when we got to see the DDs and they all cook. Seitan tastes better than any other meat substitute and you might want to try it.

  3. I love seitan, I definitely prefer it to any of that soy based TVP stuff, but I really prefer to make meals that are bean and grain based. I don't rely much on faux meats. I made a great fat free mujadara (lentils and caramelized onions) the other night and could not stop eating it - I had to remind myself that "fat free" does not equal "calorie free." I really could eat it 3x a week and not tire of it.
