How could I forget to share this DRAMA??
She shrieked at the sight of him. She HATED HIM!! She screamed genuine, earsplitting screeching screams at the SIGHT of him! It was both comical and sad, and we couldn't figure it out at first. Finally we got it - it was not the sight of him, because if he wasn't speaking, she wasn't terrified. We finally figure out, 48 hours in, that his allergy-raspy voice was the issue. (He has a deep voice to begin with and right now it's raspy like a cartoon monster. He does sound like crap.) Sunday evening he tried whispering when he spoke to her. It worked. As long as he kept his voice soft and whispery, she liked him just fine, and he carried her around, and they bonded.
Babies are smart, sensitive and aware, and she did NOT approve of his allergy gravelly voice, and wants him to see an allergist ASAP!
Wonderful pictures from the weekend. I especially liked the part where you and your son stayed up late to talk and maybe drink a beer or two. :-)
ReplyDeleteoops, my daughter was on my computer. That wasn't JAQ, this is Janet from San Diego (where you all should visit someday--we have great beer, and lots of family friendly attractions. :-)
ReplyDeleteA beer or two or...ten...no, not that many but it was after wine with dinner. We were both "tired" on Saturday, and went to bed at a decent hour after that! But it was great to have that quiet time to have a real conversation about Life. I'm very proud of him.
ReplyDeleteThe things small persons like and dislike are fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI was born in 1944, and my father was in the Australian Army 'for the duration', and by the time I was Miss D's age I would have NOTHING to do with him if he was in uniform. And I was a bred in the bone Daddy's girl.
He had to be in civvies for me to even look at him, which at the time was taking a risk with the MP's.
What a wonderful weekend,
Gae, in Callala Bay
Well, we certainly know who his mother is.... Glad they made the connection.
ReplyDeleteGae, I figured out after it was over that Miss D had the same reaction to her uncle that she had the first time she saw Cookie Monster! Now she loves both, but that voice took getting used to! :-)
