Random Thoughts

Fear is creeping into your subconscious mind today and turning your imagination two shades darker. Just remember that dark doesn't necessarily imply evil; it simply means an absence of light. What you think and feel can seem more real now than reality itself. Enjoy the magic of the Hall of Mirrors without needing to know what's going to happen next. Fortunately, your active imagination holds the keys to your future.

Yeah, that was today's horoscope. I'm feeling like I'm in the Hall of Mirrors, and I do know that the worst case scenarios I see reflected there are just stirred up in my imagination. Objective reality hasn't really changed - I'm fine, I planned ahead and I've got it covered. But damn, how many more random expenses can pop up out of nowhere before they stop being just an Oh Shit?

Today my son-in-law texted me - he was home with the baby on his day off. The air conditioning had stopped blowing cold air. I had noticed the other day that it wasn't cooling very enthusiastically, but it was still cooling. My daughter reported hearing Noises from it in the night. So he called the repair company that has served us well in the past, they came out, and they have to order a new blower motor, because apparently our compressor is A Speshul Snowflake and can't use the universal motor they stock. It's cheaper than spending $5k on a new system, but REALLY NOW? On top of the dog's dental surgery going from the $300 I'd budgeted for the cleaning to a freaking grand and we're not done yet?

My new mantra: "It's not a crisis, it's just a kick in the ass."

I am sure things like that lurk in wait for "REALLY NOW". There was a stage in our early married life when I would just save up for something nice I REALLY wanted for the house, and some ill-bred appliance would go all malicious and DIE. Funny thing,it happened so often, yet I cannot now remember what I was so anxiously saving up for.....

Sorry you are having all the darn fun! It's about time that dark crow sitting on your shoulder flew off to somewhere else. Show it the shot gun?

DH and I used to joke that we had so much trouble with all our cars because we'd been used car salesmen in our past lives.
