My quick list of big tasks has been knocked down quite a bit:
Arrange for homeowners' insurance, review title on the condo, confirm details with moverandschedule closing.Confirm guest count for rehearsal dinner.Fight with the local Board of Realtors for the hefty key deposit they freaking owe me - they are neither answering the phone nor returning my calls. (Still working on this one.) Haircut. (Tomorrow.) Sophie's nails need clipping.Return the outfit that lost the MOG sweepstakes.Follow up on a client I referred to another agent - they should be closing soon, if they haven't already. (emailed her, didn't get a response, need to call tomorrow) Call FREC about my crazy license status - do I apply as an out of state resident, which I am now, or as in-state, which I will be by the time they finish processing me?(didn't call yet).
I also packed a few more boxes each day. And suddenly remembered that I needed to buy Biltmore tickets for the cousins for Sunday, and did so. Bought some simple white votive candles to sparkle the tables at the rehearsal dinner. Stopped by the rehearsal dinner site to check it out - it's the top floor of the bar where my son works, and it has a lovely rooftop patio with a view. Not fancy, it's a funky old building and the tables are picnic benches, but a really fun location. I'm doing laundry like a madwoman, because my washer and dryer are supposedly sold, and we need to figure out a time for pickup amid all the other madness.
Oh, and I found a totally different MOG dress today, purely by happy accident. I went to Dillard's today to return the loser in the Suit Sweepstakes, and wandered through the same dress department I'd wandered fruitlessly last month. This time I found a dress that screamed ME - a midnight blue sleeveless sheath dress with a gently gathered pleat from the hip on one side and matching bolero jacket. The scoop neckline of the dress and the jacket are trimmed in a sparkly but simple edge of small rhinestones. I'm keeping the pretty royal blue suit for another dressy occasion, but this dress is just more MOG worthy, and definitely me. I felt really good about it when I was walking out of the store and a total stranger accosted me to admire it through the plastic bag, and raved about how tasteful and elegant it is.
I think I have to go back for the necklace and earrings I saw on a walk through of the jewelry department. There was a sparkly rhinestone and fake sapphire set that would fill the scoop neckline of the dress just right. I talked myself out of it but I'm still thinking about it hours later, and that is always the sign that it is meant to be. And although this dress would love some sparkly delicate sandals, it'll be worn with the same black pumps I wore for my daughter's wedding, because sparkly delicate sandals and a farm do not mix.
Baby Update: they took Delaney for her first doctor's visit yesterday. She's seeing the same pediatrician who took care of her mother - I was delighted to find out that he's still practicing, he's a cool guy and kids love him. Delaney weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. at birth, and lost 4 oz. in the hospital. As of yesterday, she'd gained back the 4 oz. and added 4 more. Dr. C said it can take two weeks to regain the weight lost right after birth, and was impressed. I'm glad we didn't invest heavily in newborn sizes. She was declared fabulous, but we already knew that.
Go, Catherine, Go!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I won't get to see you in AVL this coming Feb. but am so glad you've found your next step. Maybe see you in ORL? I've a friend staying there this winter. May visit.
Yarn crawl FLA-style? After all the to-dos you have, of course.

ReplyDeletePhotos - we are anxiously awaiting happy wedding photos.
It is always great to have a totaly stranger stop you to she how great you look or in your case how great you will look in that dress. Your list is dwindling and you haven't pulled your hair out. Way to Go!
