It's really spring - a real spring. I haven't had a real spring in 30-ish years - no, wait, there was that barely 2 year stint in Cary, NC in the early 90s, I think that was one very wet spring.
Anyway, the clarity of the air, the delicate green of the buds, the giant bumblebees that suddenly appeared, the flowering trees, it's all gorgeous. Today a sweet little ladybug landed on my arm while I was walking the dogs. I wouldn't have noticed it - but it BIT me.
It does look like I can finally put away the winter coat. Fool me once, shame on you...fool me three times.... It's not the cold itself that requires a winter coat - lows in the upper 40s, I can take the dogs out to pee in a sweater. I'm not that much of a wimp. It's the damn WIND! It's the damn wind when walking the dogs at 6 a.m. It's needing to cover as much of my pajamas as I can with something windproof at that hour. It has been insanely windy - at times the trees are so noisy it's a steady low roar in the background, and I'm NOT in a heavily wooded area.
Today was gorgeous. Just drop-dead gorgeous. It was a beautiful, clear, warm, fresh start sort of day, and a really nice day to get that damn license exam done. I know what I am doing next week, and that's a really good feeling.
spring and fall - I wish they were both twice as long as they are .... and the other two could be twice as short. glad you had a day that rejoiced with your success. Can't wait to watch this new career unfold.
ReplyDeleteThat was not a normal ladybug. It was likely a Japanese ladybug - I know this because they bite! They're outnumbering ladybugs here which is a shame.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on passing the test for your broker's license. Expected you do do it with flying colors but glad it's over.
ReplyDeleteThank you for writing about your weather. Planning a trip your way next week to see a granddaughter in Rock Hill, SC. Husband wants to stop in Asheville for a bit of sight seeing. Can you recommend a place for lunch?
Genie
Oh, wow Genie, AVL has hundreds of great restaurants! Any particular cuisine? One of the most famous local places is Tupelo Honey Cafe - but because it's famous (and really, really good), there's a wait. Depending on where you're sightseeing, 12 Bones is the barbeque place the President had to revisit when he came back to town. Again, a wait, but worth it. I can think of a half dozen other suggestions.
ReplyDeleteAmy - yes, it was a Japanese ladybug. I got a glimpse of it before brushing it off the back of my arm.
