Okay, here you go.
I've pretty much given up on the idea that this blog will remain my Seekrit Idennity, and finally decided I don't really care. I am not part of Corporate World anymore - love me or hate me, it's me. So that's my extremely fancy professional glammed-up business photo. FDiL cut my hair and used about a pound of expensive "product" on it and spend an eternity blowing it out ever-so-carefully, to get it to not frizz on a humid, rainy afternoon. I actually had a near-meltdown at the amount of product - my hair felt ICKY! ICKY ICKY ICK! I hadn't known until that moment how I can't stand having my hair feel all stiff and styled. I wanted to stick my head in the sink and wash it out, but managed to control myself long enough to stop by the house, pick up my camera, and head over to their house (she was at work at the swank downtown shop when she did my hair; my son was at home to take the photo). So I threw on a now two-sizes-too-large (I hope it doesn't show) professional looking jacket and stood in front of a bush outside his building, and after a little cropping to fit and an iPhoto color adjustment to make me less pasty (not shown here), that's my fancy professional business look. No Vaseline on the lens or Photoshop; but at least my clients will recognize me, though I will not be blown out quite so extremely. It bothers me that my eyes are kinda pink (I'm allergic to something growing in his neighborhood) but I wanted to get business cards turned around FAST, and wasn't about to spend time finding a photographer and figuring out when FDiL could glam me up before a scheduled appointment. We winged it. It's fine.
I liked this one too, but went with the more smiley one.
In the rest I was making a face or had my eyes half shut. My daughter sure as hell didn't get her incredible camera-readiness from me.

::Applause!:: ::Cheers!!:: You look great! I like the smiley one better too. If I were in the market, I'd buy a house from you! Not that I wouldn't have before but I'll recommend you to anyone I hear is looking:)
ReplyDeleteWow! Love the haircut and think you look great and not with pink eyes at all! I like both pics equally well. You really look like a businesswoman!

Thanks, I think I clean up okay. It's really a matter of using more hair product than I like to feel when I touch my hair. I did hit a happy balance today of the right product and a not quite so straight blowout. Now I just need a jacket that fits, and something for the allergies.
ReplyDeleteBut the haircut is great. I cannot fault the way FDiL carefully crafted the layers to fall Just So, and even with my "less product, less careful drying" everyday handling, it's perfect. So, if anybody wandering by needs a great haircut in Asheville, just holler, I can hook you up.
Oh, and @Linda? Seriously, I am looking for clients. If you, or anybody else, wants to help me build a business in Western North Carolina, plz shoot an email to bossylittledogATyahoo - I will gratefully send you a few of my extremely professional photographed business cards. I have been working in real estate world since Girlmama was a My Little Ponies fan, and I will have my clients' backs.
ReplyDeleteHi there - looking GREAT, girlfriend ;) Wishing you all the best in your new career!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Damn, girl, you DO clean up well. And the too big jacket doesn't look like it (to me) in the pics.
ReplyDeleteIt's so perfect for your face, which is perfect. I just love that sweet smile! Your eyes are the exact shade of the jacket. Isn't that eye shadow? I'd have never guessed.
ReplyDeleteIsn't what eye shadow? I don't leave home without it! :-)
