April 3rd, my auspicious career day....

By Rick Levine
Setting ambitious goals isn't enough; you must be prepared to make your move today in order to put your good intentions into motion. It would be a shame to waste this powerful moment of initiation without taking direct action since the enterprising Aries New Moon falls in your 10th House of Career. Don't worry about what you accomplish or how far along the path you actually travel. Remember, the first step is the most important one.

Okay, so, I studied for the exam, but as my powerful moment of initiation, I ordered my name badge.

Today was absolutely gorgeous, and tomorrow will be too. The weekend was lovely, if too brief. Yesterday I was summoned to do emergency backup babysitter duty for Supergirl. Her other grandma normally takes Saturday duty when needed, but had an emergency of her own. Babymama was working, and Babydaddy had to go into work late in the afternoon to host a special event. He called me, and Emergency Backup Grandma was deployed like a backup parachute. I did have other plans, but I was glad to change them for playing with Supergirl.

OMG, she's becoming sooo much fun! She's saying a few words and thinking many more - if you can decode her one syllable pronouncements, she's definitely talking inside her head, it's just not coming out that clearly yet. She's up and racing around pushing her little walker, but she hasn't soloed walking yet. I think she's going to be just like her daddy - he cruised the furniture until he was 14 months old, and then simply let go and walked. She appears to have that same philosophy that "two steps and crash " is for idiots - she's going to keep practicing until she can skip that and go directly to running across the room. She's a very busy, happy little girl, and 3 hours with her wiped me out. :-) Study time lost, but so worth it.

Have you considered sign language with Supergirl? My great niece and nephew were taught simple signs as babies- things like asking for milk, I love you, and so on. My niece said it reduced a great deal of frustration.

  2. They taught her a couple of signs but she's not interested in using them. She's jumping right to speaking, and she really is fairly easy to understand - book is "buh" and so forth. She makes herself understood pretty well already.
