And overall, February is off to a great start, and looks promising. Real estate broker classes are winding up on the 15th if we don't get any more snow in between, and none is predicted so far. We dodged the latest round of snow and had to settle for chilly, chilly rain. Damn, we have had a lot of precipitation this winter. I am cheered by the thought that the waterfalls are going to be AWESOME. And my employment prospects are opening up all over - I won't be more specific than that because I'm superstitious, but if you want to say a prayer or think positive thoughts or otherwise send a little happy employment juju my way, I'll gladly receive it.
Right now I'm covering all my bases and buckling down to real estate and finance math, and studying for the first of the two tests for licensing (class test, then state) - then there's another 90 hours of classroom time after licensing before the licensed newbie broker can be unleashed as a full broker. NC has become really serious about this stuff, and I can't complain. I've spent large portions of the last 20 years cleaning up after licensed idiots, and anything that will help cull the dimwits from the herd early is fine by me.
I'm pretty sure I'll do fine, but after my immersion in these topics for so many years I will be embarrassed if I don't ace these tests with a 90% or higher. Hence the studying to fill in the gaps on the formal test stuff, like antiquated real estate law terms you learn in school and then never speak of again in real life. I learned them in college classes over 20 years ago, and saw them on license exams over 20 years ago, and never heard them used again in years of actually working at rather complex levels in the law side of the business. It's useful to know if you are reviewing title searches dating back to the 1800s, but otherwise, eh - and a RE broker isn't expected to review title. Yet they are part of the test, so I'm refreshing my memory yet again on terms I used to know, never needed to use, and will never need to know after the test. Whatever, it's healthy mental exercise, and I'm having fun with it.
Knitting - yes, I did actually do some of that. I'm working on the first sleeve of the Monday Morning Cardigan, and still loving it. I am a sucker for a clean, simple, ingeniously shaped pattern, and this is definitely on the list.
I haven't started Grandgirl's sundress yet, but it's 36 degrees, so it's not like there is a burning need. I have a sweater and scarf to finish first. I have become nearly project monogamous in the last couple of years. I won't say I never have more than one item on needles - that is unnecessarily ascetic - but now I tend to plan projects according to stress on the hands, so I can switch off from small needles/tight gauge to something bigger and looser and different. But startitis seems to be in the past - part of a life organized differently, I guess.
Okay, that was rambling and totally lacking in pictures, but did I mention this week FLEW?
Sending positive thoughts and best wishes from the Great Southern Land.

Just sending you good vibes via the computer! How are you finding taking in new information? I still feel like acquiring new info is hard, but then it's only been a year since the "thang" so I'm hoping it'll get better. I feel a bit "dumb" sometimes :(
ReplyDeleteBest wishes!!
