A Gorgeous First Hint of Spring!

It's been decades since I've had this real change of seasons, and I do love it. I know snow is cold, wet, inconvenient and can be quite dangerous (especially in the South, where the occasional big snowfall causes a mess on the roads for several days afterward) but I enjoyed the snow we had this winter - even Sophie learned to enjoy it, and if an 11 lb. Boston Terrier from Florida can adapt, you people in down jackets and boots can just STFU! People made a big deal about how I'd have to Adjust to the Cold again - meh, Big F-ing Deal. I bought appropriate outdoor clothing and already owned a Subaru. Winter was not a problem.

But I moved here right before Thanksgiving, arrived in cold rain to bare trees and a city in hibernation, and then we had record breaking cold followed by snow followed by more cold and snow, broken up by the occasional merely cold rainy days. We really didn't get out much this winter. Today was the first hint of spring-like weather - gorgeous clear blue skies and much, much warmer. Temps hit around 60F - still too chilly to go hiking with the baby at higher elevations, which are much colder, but perfect for venturing out to the park for an hour or so. So this afternoon, Supergirl and her parents and I ventured out to a park in West Asheville. We'd originally planned to do the French Broad River Park, with its walking trails, but they had no baby swing in sight! This could not do, because Supergirl needed to swing!

Because nothing says Spring like a happy baby in a swing.

Tomorrow I have phone calls to make (back-up employment plans have now moved to the forefront) and I also intend to take the dogs to the riverfront park for a nice walk. It's going to be even warmer tomorrow. The broker class debacle is still pissing me off, but I'm still happy to be here, and I'm really looking forward to spring.
