Mom and baby are doing great, after 36 hours of labor. DiL2b's new blog alias is Superwoman because she did that marathon labor without drugs and sounded remarkably chipper when it was over, laughing and yelling to me "It HURT!" And Baby Girl is Supergirl, because after that very long, hard entry into the world she looks a lot less bruised and haggard than one would expect, and she aced her very first test (her Apgar score was 8/9). And to top it all off, when my son held the phone to her she gurgled to me.
This is awesome. I'll be antsy until my visit on the 20th.
Beautiful girl.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - what a cutie! I was just coming to post because I've been catching up on how you spent 2007: my SIL, who is a fervent knitter, told me about your blog because my own elephant fell on my head on 10th Feb, 3 days before my 50th birthday. I'm still in hospital, post craniotomy, but feeling pretty darn good. After all I get a second chance at life! I'm unnerved by the similarities in our stories right down to me calling my now ex boss el jefe because he was Spanish.... Anyway I'm enjoying the read. Now go enjoy being a grandmother!
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap, Jen! I'm so glad you are feeling good, and even writing from the hospital!
ReplyDeleteMany congratulations to you all!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful baby girl! Congratulations to all-
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful, Catherine. I don't know how you can wait until the 20th to get your hands on her!

Many Many Congratulations !
ReplyDelete'Supergirl' is super sweet. x
She is adorable, isn't she? Those pictures were taken with my son's phone, a few minutes and then about an hour after her long, hard trip into the world, and my son reported that she was alert and calm, and did not like the bright light in the delivery room and was already covering her eyes with her hands before she was swaddled. He wants to get her a tiny pair of shades like Daddy's. :-) He was an active participant in her delivery, and got to "catch" her. Both parents were exhausted and pumped on adrenalin and looking forward to food and rest, and I don't want to hear from them for 24 hours, at least.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you all. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteShe is absolutely precious! Congratulations to all of you - what an amazing adventure your son and DIL2B are about to begin. And just think of all the cute knitting possibilities!
ReplyDeleteCongrats all round!

I hope Superwoman got a lovely long sleep after that effort. Let someone else look after Little Miss for a while.
ReplyDeleteLittle Miss is definitely a keeper, and I hope you will all have a lot of love and laughter with her in the years to come.
