Today's Horoscope, and Other Things

The career transition you're going through right now is very exciting. But be careful not to automatically equate career change with career improvement! This new routine will still become an old routine eventually, no matter how thrilling your new responsibilities are, initially. This isn't to say that things won't be exciting for a while. Just make sure that you don't commit yourself to anything too permanent too soon. You have to give yourself time to settle into your new role, first.

So the question this horoscope raises is this: WTF do you mean by "new role," Oh Horoscope Person? Is that the "new role" I am in now? If so, I don't find it "very exciting." It's the same stuff I've done before, it's like a comfortable old shoe, and I don't see not getting a regular paycheck as a "career improvement." I am not "thrilled" with these "new responsibilities," which look suspiciously like the old responsibilities I left in the job before last, because, hey, they are the SAME ones I left and I am visiting the office I left to meet with the people I used to work with, and it's all weird and deja vu-ish in a not very good way.

And, I must say, I am not cut out for the freelance life. I was reading construction documents at 6:15 this morning. I read them most of the day yesterday, which was a holiday for most sane people. That is just wrong. I like going to an office. It separates work from home. I need that division. I need to get in my car at the end of the day, start the engine and leave the job behind. I had finally achieved that sort of work/home division, and here I go breaking down those boundaries again.

And I was not sure what any of this shit meant, but then there was an email from HR guy at the place I interviewed at the week before last. (Hey, now there's some sentence structure, but you know what I mean.) That job is still alive. We shall see.

What we shall not see are the crochet pictures I've promised. But boy, will they be a letdown when I finally get around to taking them.

Onward! More crocheted things! And Dumb TV! I am off duty.
