My new version of Blogger is READY!

But I'm not allowed to use it because this blog is apparently too large to move. And perhaps this is fortuitous, because I have been thinking for some time that it's time for a fresh start. So I'm thinking I'll start the new year with a new blog. I'll leave a trail of breadcrumbs.

Meanwhile, back at the job, it appears that still more change is in the offing. It may involve relocating our operation to either Sarasota or Tampa - but El Jefe wants Sarasota, and what The Boss wants tends to happen. This is still in the very early planning stages, but it's being discussed. I've already discussed it with the Girlchild, and we have a plan - she can rent this place cheaper than a decent one bedroom apartment in Orlanduh. (No lie -rents now run $900 - $1100 for a ONE bedroom. It's so bad it was a news story the other day. I know New Yorkers and Californians are laughing until they wet themselves right now, but you have to keep in mind our sorry-ass Southern right-to-work-state, low wage, no benefits, service-based economy and the many people toiling at theme parks and in retail for seven or nine bucks an hour, and you can see the glaring problem.)

So if this comes to pass, she can rent this house, mostly furnished, because I will move my bedroom set and a few other pieces to a lovely apartment or rented condo, (like the bigscreen TV - don't get your hopes up Girlchild). That'll do us for a year at least, until I see if the situation is working and decide to buy a condo. I am over the single family house life. Been there, done that, FOUR times. I am rapidly approaching the status of the Elizabeth Taylor of home ownership. I don't want a yard. I'll pick up the Yorkie poop when I walk him.

This could actually work out well for both of us, she would have a house and yard for Dudley, I would have a tenant I can trust, and I could move down south and rent an apartment while I decide where to live. So we have a plan in place, and we'll see what happens. Maybe it'll all change in two months or two weeks. Who the hell knows? There are so many changes going on in the company - all good, all exciting.

And this brings me back to my recurring personal theme: I never imagined my life would be so unsettled at this stage of the game. I'm 48 years old, for Godssake! I know enough to cover my ass, but if I can cover my ass and take a leap at the same time, I'm there.

Oh, and all of my Christmas shopping is done! Done! Yes!

If 50 is the new 30, then 48 is the new 28. And how many 28 year olds do you know who are settled? I think shaking things up at this stage of life is a good thing.

There is a nice LYS in Tampa called Knit & Knibble on Dale Mabry. Helpful staff. I went for the first time yesterday and bought way tooo much! Just in case you land in Tampa!

Just FYI, I miss the years that I had a house with my dog. Not being able to just let the hyper babies out for a bit and having to walk them instead does get old. I'm looking at buying a house this year for that very reason.

  8. How wonderful! Who cares if you're 48? This is a new beginning, and possibly the best thing for you. I'm so please.

Just make sure you leave a trail of breadcrumbs so that I (and the others) can find you.

Oh, and if you're ever giving away any of the stash again, think of me. ;-D
The sock yarn I got from you many moons ago is knitting up nicely into Christmas socks. Just so ya know.

  9. The Studio? Well, yanno, maybe the non-delivery of the Perfect Worktable was meant to be. I think The Studio will live empty for a while, until I hear the odds on this relocation. Jefe is an impatient guy, he will have a plan and timeline in place in 60 days, max. Our Big Boss of All is also a decisive guy, so it'll get hammered out and we'll have a timeline and all that stuff by March 1 at the latest.

But as we are now on Studio Hold, that big purty Ott Light is going to come into the living room and stay awhile. And the next place, even the next temporary place, will have a space for creative stuff. I did a quick apartment check online, just to make sure I wouldn't get screwed in this, and I saw many pet friendly, very nice apartments in my price range (and I don't move if I can't afford it, and there will be an exit plan if it doesn't work out). I could so totally get creative on a screened, covered balcony with a view of the water.

  10. I am a year younger and just as unsettled. By my own choosing. It is good to shake things up a little.
    Oh, the things we do!
