Knitting! No, really!

I've had a productive weekend, fiber-wise. I finished the first Red Scarf Project scarf, and yes, it is blue.

I finished a sock for Boychild and started a second sock.

I started a second Red Scarf scarf, and this time, yes, it is red.

And I had this weird urge to start a scarf out of Blue Heron mercerized cotton. I had an epiphany - a knitted scarf does not HAVE to be fuzzy! A scarf can be purely decorative! And this will be a purely decorative scarf, to wear with v-necked tops in black and blue, especially one blue one that can be a bit cleavage-revealing and could use a bit of discretion/distraction. And yes, Catherine toyed with other patterns but fell back on her old reliable feather and fan for this. It's cotton, and more than k2tog is painful for my hands, and in this colorway this stuff is so hard to see, even with an Ott light shining right on it, a more complicated pattern would have been like death, and knitting should be fun, dammit. After I'd gone this far I realized how some sparkly beads would be so nice in this, but I decided it was too late to go back and add beads, but now I'm all about adding beads to the next scarf, which, thanks to the backasswardness of Blogger and the limitations on numbers of pictures in one post, will be in the post above this one. Fortunately, I have enough of this cotton to make two scarves. One will have glass beads.

God that's beautiful! I have been branching out, colorwise, but that part of the spectrum is still my favorite! Like the F&F in it, too.

  2. Much knitting going on here! Love all the scarves, especially yours! I think I have that colorway in stash...deep ocean, right?

Only you have to enjoy the knit so if F&F makes you happy, enjoy! Besides it's such a pretty stitch!

  3. i did a scarf for the red scarf project as well, and, umm, yeah. it's gonna have to go for someone very tall. i had an afghan that i didn't like how it was turning out, so i added to each end, then did crocheted fringe, and it's 10 ft long. yes, you read that right. oh well, it will thrill someone!
