Yes, I do keep track. I used to be a crazed stasher, but I'm trying to prioritize other things in my life and also knit the stash, in part so that I won't have so much to move whenever that opportunity arises. I've been really good. Very, very good.
Then Debi had to write about linen. I love linen. I admit that it's not a sensual delight to knit, though I don't mind working with it and it's easier on my carpal-tunnel-challenged hands than I expected. The results are what linen is all about. I think it's related to my felting addiction (I am a recovering felt addict) - there's something so daring about putting all that effort into knitting something and then Throwing It In the Wash To Beat It Up On Purpose! And with linen you get to go one better and put it in the dryer too!
So I haven't bought yarn since visiting Chez Casuelle in May, and now the same person who introduced me and my credit card to Carla now writes this wonderfully educational post about linen, and posts a photo of that linen shawl, AND her linen stash, AND a link to her dealer, er, supplier, and I'm getting the itch. The itch is itching bad. I'm gonna be twitching by noon, browsing the color selection and thinking about linen shawls instead of wastewater treatment plant agreements. And rationalizing - because we all know I can rationalize with the best of them - linen is so practical. Linen is cool and knitting a linen shawl in the heat of summer just makes sense. And dammit, I have to sit around reading wastewater treatment plant stuff all day, don't I deserve something nice? Better a cone of linen than a pint of ice cream that will go directly to my ass, which is already demonstrating that stress does indeed cause weight gain.
Sigh...right now I'll go get on the elliptical trainer. And think about linen.
OMG - she did it to me, too! I'm already thinking which pattern, what color...just a matter of time b/4 I succumb to the linen! And this one will be my first, so it's nice to hear that it's easy on your carpal tunnel! Maybe not so hard on my Lupus/fibro fingers?
ReplyDeleteThe puppies are adorable...that wicked gleam in Dudley's eye, the "aawhh...cummon???" in Murphy's!
lololol
(((hugs)))
I have a feather and fan "baby blanket" for a grandchild to be indentified MUCH later in linen, it was a pleasure to knit. I made a shawl from a color I regretted later, but I loved the project. I love linen. I found that linen and finer quality cottons don't bother my hands, while Sugar 'n Cream caused them to cramp into claws.
ReplyDeleteMuahahahahaha.....
ReplyDeleteNow if I could just convince Nancy to give me a cut :)
You know you wanna Catherine!! Go for it girl!
BTW, you never comment anymore,I thought you'd stopped reading!
ReplyDeleteYou want me to call you a rotten bitch on your blog, for "making me" go to yet another of your fabulous suppliers and spend more money on linen? :-) I felt the knitting needle in my back, girl! "Go. Buy Yarn, you know you want to...." Or maybe that was just the voices in my head.
ReplyDeleteI haven't stopped reading, I'm a lousy commenter. I keep thinking "I'll go back and comment later," and don't. I promise to do better!
