I need a new camera.

I tried to get action photos of Dudley pestering me - just to show you that he is NOT always cute and has a pain-in-the-ass streak a mile wide and it is on full display this morning. I tried to capture his whining, jumping, bitching and moaning, scratching at the door, chasing a cat, absolute full blown obnoxious behavior, which has been on display for three hours nonstop, but he's too fast for the camera. My little old camera's slow shutter speed was not up to the task. He can jump faster than the shutter can click. I want a new camera for my birthday.

I've been up listening to the morning news - THREE hours of local morning news. Actually, it's 20 minutes of drivel repeated over and over for three freaking hours - the same stories, over and over. I have to feel sorry for the poor souls who have to read the same crap over and over, trying to inject a note of enthusiasm about it to lead us to believe we should care. Whatever happened to Saturday morning cartoons? Bring back Bullwinkle, dammit!

  1. Hey Rocky, watc me pull a rabbit out of my hat! :)

    Enjoy your weekend Catherine!

And I heartily recommend my new camera....rapid succession pics, anti-shake mechanism amd crystal clear pics, for under $200. It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2. You have to purchase a larger memory card if you want to store more than FIVE pics (well duh!) but $12.95 gets you 128 megs which translates to 50 pics stored. Plus it's small enough to toss in your purse! I'm VERY happy with it!

  2. I'm really coveting a serious camera - a digital SLR. The price of the Canon I've wanted has come down below $800 at Costco, and they're running a rebate. It shoots something crazy like six frames per second - so much better than my current six per minute.

  3. yikes!! unless it's about $600 under $800 it's WAY out of my league! I don't want to sound like an advert either but I just checked my manual and mine takes 3 shots/second in burst mode so is an additional 3 worth an additional $600? I'm just sayin' :)

  4. The speed is only part of it - for what I want to do, I need a real SLR that can take interchangeable lenses. I've been patiently waiting for the price to come down and saving my pennies, and I think this is my birthday gift to me this year.

  5. BTW, I was wrong about the speed, it's 3 per second but something like 14 in burst. The 5 frames per second models are still about $1200, and I don't need it.

  6. i think you did pretty well with the "not a sissy purse dog" shots, so maybe it's not so bad?

and they do the same thing here during the week, from 5 am to 7 am, with minor changes throughout the morning, until good morning america kicks on. ugh.

and dudly is darling too. he reminds me of my kids! (they grumble about the yarn on a daily basis, and i keep telling them "some day mom's gonna make money with this!" oy)

  7. I got 2 decent shots out of 20, and the first one is barely decent. The second one is okay, but the camera couldn't capture the water spray as it really looked. And yes, that does bug me. I love to take nature pictures, and a slow shutter speed and lack of a good telephoto lens is a major issue. I have lived with a digital point 'n shoot for a few years, I miss/need an SLR.

Now that Dudley has discovered the joy of napping with his blankie on the loveseat, Girlchild said he was quiet all afternoon!
