And I moved every damn one of them today. And I moved three large heavy bookcases from the back of the house to the front, and some skinny light bookcases from the office to my bedroom. I did manage to dispose of about 2 boxes of crap books I do not need to keep, but I couldn't bear to part with the rest. I'm almost done, my last act of the evening will be some pretty-ing up of my bedroom. My walls need art. Moving the bookcases left a big vacant wall that screams for either one big dramatic print or a bunch of smaller interesting pictures. I can't do anything about that tonight.
I feel a real sense of accomplishment, getting all that crap moved and cleaned and dusted and polished and relocated. Thanks to redistributing the books and lots of heavy lifting, there is enough room for an elliptical trainer in my bedroom! I don't have the strength to think about it today, but I think tomorrow I will start shopping in earnest. Right now my body is bitching about the workout it had today, I will stretch and fall into bed early, but it's good for me. I need serious exercise, my job and life have conspired to make me way too sedentary. It improves my mood and my energy level enormously, I just need to fit it into my day without dislodging anything else I need/like to do. I'm leaning toward a NordicTrack from Sears - I have to have it delivered, of course, it ain't gonna fit in my car. And they are running a special this weekend, 0% APR financing for 12 months! Sears wants me, yes they do. I haven't had a Sears card in forever, but I will happily get one for the next 12 months.
Dad Report: Not good news, not that I was expecting any. The lung Dr. says he's 99% sure it's cancer, they are admitting him on Wednesday to do a full workup and decide where to go from there. At his age surgery is not an option. I am holding off riding to the rescue for my mother, she is doing fine and coping with a lot of aggravation and stress so far. She is much stronger than she thinks. I just started this job last August, I can't start bugging out for days on family things this early in the game. And this is why I wanted them to move closer, but that's all moot now.
Clapotis Report: I love the yarn from Dyed Dreams (go find them at MDS&W) and it's coming along nicely. I have a dozen projects I'm itching to get into all of a sudden. And when my 120 day yarn fast is up, I want this: from Morehouse Merino. In Charcoal. It's a winter coat for me!
But wait! I wanna see the Mermaid Jacket!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your folks.
Very nice! That will drape beautifully.
ReplyDeleteYay for the moving accomplishments! It IS so satsifying, yes? and I am so sorry about your dad and the whole situation. May things go as good as they can.
ReplyDeletehugs,
caroline
The Mermaid Jacket is still in the queue, in fact I may start that after this Clapotis!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your dad - for you all.
ReplyDeleteAs for Vintage Knits - there might be a crocheted winter coat you'd like to try in it. The one with the stupidly dropped open neck - which could be fixed, mostly by raising the buttons is what I am thinking of. Just as a craft change=0=pace.
I'll keep your dad in my prayers...
ReplyDeleteI have a much harder time getting rid of books than I do my other stashed items (yarn and fiber). The last time I moved (from my own place in NY in to this teeeeeeeny dump with Ken) the friends that were helping complained about the quantity of books, and Ken got all excited and said "someday we're gonna have a place with a library!" I looked at the friends and said "see that? That's why I'm marrying him."
Hang in there.
