It took 3 hours to assemble the TV cabinet, and there was a whole lot of heavy lifting and sweating involved. I had considered going to the gym today, but after the cabinet was done I realized I'd had my workout. I'll definitely go tomorrow, though, because I'll be sore as hell and will need to work it out. The cabinet went together perfectly and I'm really impressed with the quality, it looks like Real Furniture. Oh Target, how I love thee! It is absolutely perfect with my 10 year old Ethan Allen living room tables, they are big and chunky, with cherry plank tops and wrought iron legs. The plank top and the wood tone of this cabinet looks like it was made for those tables. I'm thinking I'll just leave the back off it - the wall it's going up against is painted a deep, rich red and I think I want the red to show through - the back of this piece is the usual cheap particleboard, basically glorified cardboard, and it adds nothing at all to appearance or stability. Its only purpose is to keep crap from falling out the back, and I'm not planning to fill the side cabinets with crap that might fall out the back. Now all it needs is the new TV on top.
I'm so tired. I went to bed really early last night and took a shot of NyQuil, and I really do feel better today - or I did, until I spent the afternoon sweating and lifting. Now I want my dinner and a really early bedtime. I did not win the lottery, but neither did anyone else, so at least I have that small satisfaction as I trudge off to work tomorrow.
Linen shawl update - I think I'm okay on the quantity of yarn, I finished the first skein at about 16 inches (unstretched) and I have four. So that should be long enough for a nice rectangular shawl, especially after washing and drying, because linen feather and fan does tend to expand. Said shawl is basically the only thing I have in progress, because I'm obsessed with it. It's so sad. I really should be working on socks and gloves and such, but I'm making a linen shawl, in a way that really has passed the border of borderline into compulsive into Medication Might Help.
Impatiently counting down to new, lovely, functional living room television....
How about a pic of that obsession??? You know me, always wanting the visual.
ReplyDeleteI bought some more linen myself, laceweight too....a glutton for punishment I am :)
But I bet it's a cute goat, like a little pygora, or angora... pretty much any of your "_gora" breeds...
