Abundant Tropical Moisture

So says the National Weather Service about the lazy Ophelia, hanging around off the coast. We're getting intermittent pounding downpours followed by nothing. Not much wind. That's the plan for at least the next 48 hours. Some of the predictions I've read said it may "do a Jeanne" - hang out off the coast, meander around in a circle, turn into a hurricane and then decide where to land. Or maybe it'll go east and keep going. One can hope.

The area is under a flood watch but my house isn't - we're not low-lying and if last year didn't do it, I don't think this will.

A discussion arose - and mercifully fell again - on Knitter's Review about whether the media is liberal or conservative. A two decade drumbeat of the phrase "liberal media" certainly has taken hold. I stepped over that discussion and moved on, because you can't get people to give up things they "know" and I know better than to try at this point. But this story re MSNBC would make perhaps a not-so-indoctrinated individual ask questions. The rest wouldn't read it anyway. I'm through wasting my energy, energy should be spent on positive action. Preaching to those who drank the kool-aid is a fool's mission, I'm afraid.

I only occasionally pop into Knitters Review... and I am a little trepidatious when I do (not that I touch the political boards with a ten foot pole). Oh yeah, liberal media...

  2. We run a one hour show every day at the station called China Radio International. It's produced (mostly) in English, with news and commentary straight from China. The news isn't that different from our own - maybe SLIGHTLY less detail. So if we're liberal, so is communist China.

  3. Well, you remember the joke from a few years ago?

"China's going to start an all-news network. It will report carefully edited news that is always favorable to the government. They're thinking of calling it Fox News."

Just thought I'd pop by and tell you thanks for posting so regularly and basically for being your own cool self. Missy C, you are my sanity and reality check some days. Thanks, chica.
