Happy Halloween!
I'm feeling a bit better, which is good because I can't afford the time off work - I have the days to use, I just don't have time to get my work done. I'm much better than I was yesterday, I think if I go to bed early tonight and get a decent night's sleep I should be at 85% tomorrow.
Cast on a second project, one blessedly without M1 increases which are hell on my wrist. I'm making the Laptop Sweater from Knit Wit. A Laptop Sweater? What kind of a crazy thing is that? It's like a toilet paper cover for a computer! The woman is losing it! Okay, whatever, but I looked at it and at my shiny silver Dell laptop and my gnarly old laptop bag, bristling with zippers and snaps and things that will scratch its pristine silvery-ness, and thought it was just what it needs. Whenever I have to load my baby into that nasty old scratchy bag I think I should wrap it in something, so dammit, I will. I like the bag, it was my husband's and you could almost pack enough crap for a weekend in it with the laptop, (of course, then you couldn't LIFT it) and Baby is a big girl and doesn't fit in my sleek little 9 West laptop shoulderbag like my old work computer did, so we shall adapt. AND the pattern calls for Cascade 220, which I just happen to have in abundance since it's also my favorite felting yarn, so it was meant to be, and I was off and running. Today Joann's had a sale and I picked up some adorable buttons - lavender flowers in acrylic - that are perfect for the deep, deep purple of the laptop's sweater (and some other fabulous buttons that would be good for other things, because I couldn't make up my mind). Photos later, after I clean the kitchen and prepare for wee trick-or-treaters.
When the tough get sick, they go shoe shopping. Actually the last thing I wanted to do with my snotty and tired and headachy self was go shop for shoes, but tomorrow is freaking November and it's probably time to quit wearing sandals every day, if only so the fashion police don't arrest me as I walk into my office. I scored at DSW Shoe Warehouse - sensible black Naturalizer loafers for pants, brown Aerosoles slingbacks for the nice brown and tan skirts in my closet (hanging there unworn because I didn't have any shoes that even remotely worked with them) and a funky pair of Reaction flats with a strap that just cracked me up, they will be much more interesting with jeans than my usual sneakers or clogs on our Very Casual Casual Fridays. Throw in a bargain black Etienne Aigner bag with outside pockets for my cellphone and keys (I will not buy any bag if it doesn't have a convenient place for my phone - sorry, that's just how my life works) and I was very happy and very broke. But at least my feet are covered for the next few months, until I wear these shoes to death. I kill shoes. I walk on construction sites in heels, I slop through Florida rainstorms, I do all sorts of things that make discount shoes on clearance the ONLY way to go. I was so discouraged at first, but after I found the Kenneth Cole funny little flats the other shoes just jumped out and said Howdy. I love a good shopping buzz, even if it was necessary and work-related. I am shod. It was not an entirely unproductive weekend.
So cool. Please post pics when it's done and I'll link to you from the book blog so others can see and covet! :-) LOVE poiple, and Cascade 220 has such nice purples, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm having wool envy again. Sigh.
