The best laid weekend plans, etc. I woke up at 2 a.m. - yes, that's right, TWO - sick as a dog, draining sinuses, sore throat, coughing, etc. I blame this on working in an office where everybody has kids bringing germs home from school - someone is always sick. I tossed until 3, gave up and got up. Today was devoted to Benadryl, rest and fluids. And knitting. Nothing like feeling like shit to make a person really brutal about ripping unsatisfying knitting. I pulled out the Plain Jane Cardie and suddenly asked myself why the hell I was knitting it flat, when I loathe sewing seams. So I ripped and restarted it as a top-down seamless raglan. Of course, this gave me the chance to put 8 of my new stitch markers into service. I made quite a bit of progress on it before my wrist started twinging (all those damn M1 increases).
Now I'm exhausted but determined to stay awake until at least after 8, when I can take more Benadryl and hopefully get a decent night's sleep.
Big excitement today, a Kerry volunteer came to the door. I asked how he found me, he said they were only targeting registered Democrats, because, "There's no point talking to those Bush people." True - KR is ample evidence of that. I was intrigued to find out that there were "a few" Dems in my immediate neighborhood - now I'll be trying to guess who they are. I'm not kidding when I say this place is extremely Republican. I think I can guess who - it's the ones who won't say who they're voting for, because we have to live here.
I am watching movies and any cable channel that isn't running political ads. I am burned out and I can't listen to the easily refuted Republican lies - gotta give them credit for nerve if nothing else, they have no shame and are still running ads that have been discredited publicly for weeks. I want to vote and go to bed early, I won't even stay up to watch election results. I really wish I'd known my county would have only one early voting site that keeps banker's hours, I would have voted by mail. As it is I think I'll have to walk to the library - fortunately it's an easy walk - because no way will there be enough parking. I strongly suspect we won't know who won on the 3rd, and maybe not for quite some time after that. Ugh.
