Yes, it's 8 p.m. and I still have electricity and cable. The industrious trimming of trees and burying of lines by our local power company has already paid off - normally a normal strong wind would take out power to my neighborhood. It's raining pretty hard, but a normal pretty hard, not major hurricane hard. The eye is a couple of counties away and should be here around 10. We are getting conflicting messages from the National Weather Service, which as of the last report still insisted this is a Category 3 storm ohmygodohmygod, and the local weather guys, who scoffed at this - they say it's breaking up and while still wet and windy, is not likely to wipe out Orlando. There could still be strong gusts and even stray tornadoes, but not sustained 115 mph winds. I do hear the wind picking up even as I type this.

My major concern, besides the spot where I am sitting right now, because it faces the oncoming storm, is the skylight in my living room, which is 20+ years old and just makes me nervous. If the wind gets serious I will retreat to the futon, but so far, so good. Keep thinking good thoughts.
