Just a quick post - I had intended to ramble on about various things, but the urge passed. I just have to say that I jumped in and bought Bonne Marie's lacy poncho pattern today, and had to cast on right away. Lace and I have a bad history. I seldom can "see" the pattern and tend to lose my place easily. I had decided that I was just lace-impaired and should not touch the stuff. Leave it to Bonne Marie to write something even a lace idiot like me can do with ease, and it looks great, too. I started it in that pink Softball cotton I bought a while back, unsure of what to do with it - I'm thinking it will be quite cute as a trendy accessory for the Girlchild, and it's a good test run of the pattern. So far, so very good - I've gotten through five pattern repeats without F-ing it up even once, and that was while watching a movie this afternoon and then the Olympics. If that's not proof that it is clever AND easy, nothing is. It's very addictive and fun to do. I'm loving it.
What I'm not loving is even the thought of Hurricane Frances heading anywhere near anybody - I don't want to say "Don't hit Florida!" because then it might go smash NC. It needs to just turn the hell around and go away. We all need to put our collective prayers, meditations and positive thoughts together to encourage it to change its direction, and blow that monster back out to sea.
