Purely serendipitously, Office Space was on Bravo this afternoon, and I worked on the latest felted bag while watching and howling. It's scary how perfectly it captures cube life, the obsession with forms, the "too many bosses" all delivering condescending lectures about insanely inane, meaningless things (I was treated to a long and condescending lecture the other day, while I was insanely busy with real work, about how overtime pay works - I hope I got a day pass out of purgatory for not interrupting with "For Godssake I know this I used to INVESTIGATE wage and hour claims!" But I was a good girl and listened and occasionally made "Yes I know" noises that did nothing to derail the lecture. I have learned that once a "you are my underling and I am here to help" lecture gets rolling you just have to remain seated until the ride comes to a complete stop.

I thought I'd fall off the couch when the masses were assembled to get the latest condescending lecture on which timesheet to use, because I am now up to THREE timesheets in my current job.
