The good news is I knitted a lot today. The bad news is my right wrist hurts now. I knit Continental style and I really don't think it's a "Knitting Injury" - I barely move my right hand at all. The problem is just holding the needles for too long at a stretch. The problem started years ago when I spent weeks on end at work developing a huge Access database and mousing my arm off. But now the damage is done and knitting aggravates it, and I aggravated it today, working on my diagonal-striped Cotton-ease pillow cover. I'm loving it - I grabbed a bunch of spring-y jellybean colors out of the stash from hell and I'm just working random stripes - "Hmmm, I feel like a thin pale yellow now...." It will be cute, I like it. I may give it to a little girl I know - it's more pastel than my normal decorating taste, but it's still cute. I found a good backing fabric at Joann's - a cheap fat quarter in a floral with a lilac background that picks up all the colors of the stripes. It'll work. Now if my wrist will just stop hurting. I need to soak it in the tub tonight, that really does help. It's just further evidence that I need to focus my energy on learning to sew well, because knitting is now a rationed activity.
Me Day was relaxing, I went to Target and browsed and wandered and came home with the usual assortment of Target wares - a new garden hose, a new sprinkler for the tomato plants (growing nicely, thank you) makeup, nail polish, a new iron because I gave the old one to Girl, a wonderful new tub pillow shaped just the way I want it, stuff like that. Tomorrow I have an appointment at Home Depot to do the next step in the cabinet remodeling. Even better, I have a line on a tall strong young man who may be willing to do my yard for me for a modest rate. Which is very good, since this project is falling behind every day and I will be in Miami next weekend so kiss next weekend goodbye. I'll probably get in a tad of yard time tomorrow afternoon, but my fantasy schedule was toast long ago - between weather, work, and physical impairment, I just need to hire somebody and get it done.
It's an early bed night - Boris got in bed for one of his Lovefests last night - a tall, dog-klutzy 18 lb. cat with a purr like earth moving equipment demanding attention at 3:30 a.m. pretty much kills the rest of the night. Tub. Magazines. Bubble bath and a glass of wine. Rest the wrist. Paint the toenails. That's the agenda.
