A happy online shopping accident - I ordered a couple of Patons patterns and a yarn sample from Beehive Wool - I thought I was getting the booklet with the blue shell on the cover, "Resort Wear," but apparently that's not the correct cover. Instead, it turned out to be the booklet with the pink peplum sweater "Elegance." But I'm not complaining, I like this one too, the cross-over sweater in short sleeves would be fabulous on Girlchild's slimmed and tae-boed body this summer, and even better - the tulip shawl at the lower right is exactly what I had in mind for my "keep the A/C chill off" shawl! I also ordered a sample card of Patons Katrina, and the yarn, too, is just right. It's soft, soft soft, has a lovely sheen, and even the color in the booklet, Oyster, is just right - though the other colors are lovely too, I do believe I'm going to order the yarn to make this shawl in Oyster. I'm on a yarn diet, but just like the real diet, sometimes you know when it's time to allow a little deviation from the routine for a specific purpose.
I totally overlooked this shawl when I was online-browsing, and it turns out to be just what I was searching for. The pattern is an easy 8 row repeat even I can handle, and the yarn is exactly what I was looking for - I bought the sample card thinking maybe I'd use it for the St. Seraphina Knits pattern, but I do believe the Patons pattern is even more appropriate.
Still making progress on Bardot - I only work on Miss B in the mornings, though - I'm getting to the neckline and raglan decreases, and while this isn't a bad pattern it's not the most clearly written thing I've ever done, so I do need fresh caffeine in my bloodstream and some quiet time to work on it.
Down another .5 lb. this morning. I've lost .5 a day for the past three days. Though this is verging on "too much information" let's just say that at this hormonally challenged time of the month I would normally be gaining a pound or two. I credit the walking and the South Beach Diet equally, and both have become very easy and second nature to me now. Update on The Boss on South Beach - he's down 17 pounds so far, while I'm down 7. Let us pause a moment as the female readers roundly curse the Male Metabolism. He gives some credit to being sick over Christmas, it definitely killed his appetite for holiday excess - I have no such excuse and didn't commit to this until after Christmas. I mention him because he is living proof that this diet changes your eating habits - I've known this guy for 11 years, he's like family, and I know his eating habits. He is a bigtime carb addict like my daughter, who loves bread and french fries and pasta, and of course pizza and beer, and has a major sweet tooth. I'm so impressed with his success.
Going to go jump in the shower early and then sit down with Miss Bardot for a few rows. Happy Wednesday.
