Steaming smoothed the Sitcom Chic, but I think the grosgrain ribbon on the edge is a wise idea, especially considering the humidity conditions it will endure. It would either curl it again or flatten it out for good, but we'll go with the ribbon to reinforce it so it won't be an issue. As you may have gathered from the tagboard SG is already bitchy about these events, the last thing she needs is a sweater with Issues.

I figured out today why I hate ironing. I rarely do it - I mean, I have a wardrobe carefully (most would say boringly) calculated to avoid the task, because I hate it. But today I had to tough it out, so my extremely boring wardrobe would be at least temporarily expanded a bit and my co-workers would quit considering nominating me for a spot on What Not to Wear. Anyway, today I realized that I only hate ironing because women's clothing is a pain in the butt to iron! Every blouse I own has seams and shaping, and ironing boards are not suited to fiddling with all the little angles. This has inspired me to learn to sew...knits. I'm so not going to add to my ironing load.

My cable connection took a hit yesterday in the huge storm du jour (they're a daily event). I'm pretty sure the house or something immediately near the house was hit by lightning, I actually FELT it tingle through me, and Murphy jumped up and barked furiously, so he felt it too. Oddly, my cable modem is working just fine, but the digital cable isn't digitizing anymore, so I think the mysterious Box in the Attic took the hit yesterday. I don't know why the modem connection was spared. I can get a fuzzy picture on basic cable channels. This reeks. I hadn't realized how spoiled I was by digital cable (which we never even had, until my husband was sick and housebound) now it's like air conditioning - sure, I could survive without it, but...eeeew, why would I want to? Cable Guy/Gal will be out Tuesday at lunchtime, and I'll come home to meet my connection to civilization. Yes, I am a spoiled, modern city-type woman and I like my BBC America and the like, and my on-screen program guide. I don't even watch THAT much television, but when I do, I want it to be something worth watching, and that sure cuts the field down to a few channels. But I could live in the country if I had a dish.

Wednesday the Bossy One goes for a new haircut with a NEW groomer. Hopefully this one actually uses scissors and doesn't just charge me big bucks for a bath and brush, which I do perfectly well myself. I must take more Photos of the Star of the Blog, so perhaps makeover pictures are in order. I'll take a before/unmade bed shot (too bad I can't upload a smell file so you can get the total effect - I haven't bathed him this week since he's going for a makeover) and then an after. I hope we can see a difference.

New VK- I'm sorry, but a plug for Celebrity Scarves and Darryl Hannah as cover girl? If ever there was proof that knitting has become TOO trendy, I think this may be it. As usual, I bought the magazine for the ads rather than the patterns - nothing grabbed me and screamed "I Must make this!" Ditto with IK. I do want to make a knitted coat - I've been saying this for two years now. I'm plugging through the Einstein, and that will be perfectly fine for really chilly dog walks and running errands, but I'd like something longer and, well, nicer, for the REST of the time. None of the coats in these mags really thrilled me, though. Nice, but...didn't move me to the point where I'd invest that kind of knitting time.
