The only thing life has taught me about making plans is that it's fruitless to make any. Scratch everything I said about Girlchild's living arrangements, it now looks like she'll be in a different apartment entirely, and it'll cost more and she needs much more stuff to live there, because her brother took the living room furniture and kitchen stuff with him when he moved back here, because her erstwhile roomies who now will not be her roomies had all that stuff so she didn't have to worry about it, but as the Pentagon says, those plans are no longer operational. Now she needs everything. So instead of waiting until Labor Day weekend to go up, as we'd decided, I'm back to thinking I really need to go up there on Thursday. And she's not going to be in a house with a yard, so bringing Murphy may be problematic, but I'm bringing him anyway. If she's allowed to have a pet at this place, and she believes she is, I'm also bringing her cat. Whoo-hoo.

So far this has been an exhausting and stressful weekend. Heavy cleaning and moving books and bookcases is a fine full-body workout, I am a little achy from my calves to my shoulders today - and next weekend I'll be moving stuff again, and sitting on the floor putting together furniture with her. I would go up there today if I could, but we'e got meetings Tuesday and Wednesday that I really cannot miss, especially since I was on leave because of my husband, so I really can't go in there and plead Girlchild Housing Crisis and take off again (though I know my colleagues take off for far smaller crises). Life is so complicated right now, it's just insane. I'm too old for this shit. It has been a really crazy month, on top of a really bad year, but all I can do is surf the waves of insanity and try not to go under.

In knitting news, I am almost up to the stopping point on the body of the SCC, when it's time to put it aside and start the sleeves. I'm wondering if I'll have a ladder problem with this yarn - I had a slight laddering problem with the sleeves of the white SCC, which I minimized by shifting stitches around on the needles every couple of rows. I don't normally have ladders when I work with dpns so I think this was a cotton yarn issue, since it has no stretch. I am hoping the pebbly texture of the Softball cotton will prevent ladders. I'd use two circulars but I don't have two in the right size (since the body of the sweater is sitting on one of them) and I don't feel like adding a trip across town to the not-so-LYS to the to-do list.

Besides, they pissed me off again. The Not-So-LYS sent me a postcard that they're having a big sale - how exciting! They're having all the best bargains for a limited time on a weekday morning when I will be at work! Isn't that special? Thanks for nothing! That's why I don't bother with this place much - if I want to go there I have to fight my way across town in rush hour traffic to get there the one evening they're open during the week, or go on Saturday, when I have a million other things to do. I buy yarn online. Right now, I don't need to buy any yarn at all - I'll be lucky if I find time to knit what I have on hand.

Time to take the Bossy One for his morning stroll. Maybe we will see our friends the bunnies again.
