I've seen that photo on several blogs this morning - do I assume correctly that these are all soldiers who died in Iraq? I haven't seen an explanation elsewhere.
Myself, I have no words for today. I am wearing black, I am spending not one damn dime (though to be honest, I seldom do during the week anyway) and I am miserable, but I have no words...
The link to the blogger who created the image is above the image. I certainly didn't want to use it without crediting him. I didn't spend a cent today either.
How do, Catherine. It's been way too long since I have posted my "I love your blog comments" comment - let me change that today: thanks for all the postings, especially the ones re W. Today is a "get out of Dodge before sundown" day. I cannot stand to listen to his voice on the NPR reports re the ceremony today so I have the radio turned off. Amie, you're a wise woman: I should have worn black today. Thanks again. Marfa
I'm speaking as an outsider here, but what I kept thinking as I saw reports and photos of the ostentation and the sheer waste of money... Ol' George and Laura should have shown up dressed as Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI. It would have been appropriate.
Geogrrl: Actually, it would be more appropriate if they wore kneepads and offered blowjobs to the corporate johns who paid for it. Whooops, did I say that out loud? ;-)
I, too, spent the day at home, didn't spend a penny, didn't watch the spectacle, and sent a letter (for all the good it will do) to the whitehouse expressing my disgust with the whole thing. I do love reading your blog. Thanks. Linda

ReplyDeleteMarfa! Thanks for the kind words - I remain baffled that anybody wants to read this, it's not like I have very much to say about knitting! :-)

ReplyDeleteNo, No. I just heard that one in my head. We must be psychic. :-D
