and moving into a yurt. An uncarpeted, unpainted yurt.
I'm totally exhausted and I did not lift a brush yet. Today was the further Moving of Things and Disposing of Other Things, and Rearranging bookcases that were stashed in Girl's old room, where they became clutter-catchers of the worst magnitude, and putting said bookcases in the dining area, where they now hold cookbooks and other books and sensible things and only a modest layer of clutter on top.
I have way too much stuff. To be fair, most of this stuff was acquired over 25 years of family living, but it's still way too much stuff. I don't need it. Somebody might. Goodwill is seeing so much of me, they must wonder where the hell it's all coming from. I can tell them - the backs of closets, the tops of shelves, the corners of the garage (which is still a cluttered nightmare) it's going to take me until spring to really get this place down to what I want it to be. I am getting over the "But I might need that someday!" mindset. If I haven't needed it in 3 years, I don't need it. It's that simple. I don't care that it cost good money. It obviously was good money wasted and someone else can use it.
I cleaned out the residue in Girl's closet, so the carpet guy could get into it. It was like a time capsule, I swear she had clothes in there dating back to middle school (no wonder she didn't take them to college). The nicer stuff went to Goodwill, but a lot of it was really too shabby for charity. Monday will be a very busy garbage day, those guys are gonna hate me.
TWO boxes of yarn plus extra needles are going to Alderson. I realized that I have not knitted on straight needles in well over two years, so those went. Triple-duplicate crochet hooks, bought because I never could remember if I had an E hook already, etc., also going to Alderson. They will be set for a while. I, of course, am set for an entire year.
Pond filter is clean.
Car has been serviced.
Primer - but not paint - has been purchased. This weekend is primer weekend, I can put off paint until next weekend.
No primer has touched a wall, because by the time I finished my heavy lifting, carpet guy came (at almost noon, not 7 a.m. as advertised) and then oil change and miscellaneous running around it was 4 p.m., and at 4:30 Boy called his exhausted mother to request a ride on a necessary errand. Sure, no problem, darling boychild who isn't dead or maimed! Mom is happy to help! Besides, he lives about 4 miles away, it won't take long! In Friday afternoon pre-Christmas/heading for happy hour/normal insane North Orlando traffic, the "quick errand" took TWO HOURS.
I am dead-ass exhausted. I am going to bed really, really early, and now that it's cold at night and good sleeping weather, I hope to sleep 10 hours. Then I will get up and start priming.
Priming the Girl's old room and putting up Christmas decorations, that's the plan for this weekend.
I love my days off, they're so relaxing! Actually, I do love it, because I get a sense of accomplishment from reorganizing my environment that I definitely do not get at the office.
I did knit today, I completed two entire rows while waiting for my oil change. I intend to take to my bed at around 8:30 and maybe knit two more rows before I pass out.
