We are awaiting the delivery of her one month anniversary present. (No, she's not going to get a two month anniversary present; I'm not nuts.) She needed a scratching post so she'll quit using my cheap microfiber spare side chair in the dining room, and she likes to stand up on her hind legs to scratch, so the horizontal scratcher meant nothing to her. I bought her a post with a sling bed on top and I'll put it in front of the kitchen window so she can view her world in comfort, and hopefully scratch on that thing now and then.
Other than the occasional molesting of my not new and not expensive furniture, this has been the best month of new cat in my LIFE. She's so mellow, so friendly, so relaxed.
That is how she looks when I leave for work, and how she looks when I get home. Yeah, relaxed. This has been a really amazingly cosmically good fit.
Fraught and frazzled, poor thing!

It's a pity she's so high strung.
ReplyDeleteShe probably leaps to her paws the moment you walk out the front door, and vigilantly patrols and guards the premises all day long, and only collapses back onto the bed when she hears your key in the lock.
ReplyDeleteYeah, right

I believe she's left Sophie in charge of patrol. Sophie, who barely lifted her head when my daughter stopped by to use my printer. She texted me to say that when I picked my next dog, I might want one who would get off the damn couch when the door opened. I believe Sophie knew it was family and wasn't concerned. She's way more excited about strangers.
ReplyDeleteOf course Sophie knew who was coming in - she probably heard your daughter's car, and her footsteps on the stairs.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment we have NO watch dog services, Italian Greyhounds are pretty useless in the guardian department, and the Jack Russell is so old, sleeps so deeply, and is pretty deaf, and has heavy cataracts.

I swear that Wolfie knows when the Jeep turns onto our access road! He's on DH's chair and looking expectantly at the front door before the jeep is on our street.
ReplyDeleteIs that a Main Coon kitty? So big!
She's at least partly Maine Coon cat. She has the overall shape and size and big hairy snowshoe paws, but I don't think she's purebred, though she might be, who knows? She's Ellie, that's all.
