Meet Ellie.

As you may have noticed, Ellie is not a kitten. I spent hours with various kittens and none of them felt like "mine." Ellie is a year old, a 14 lb. mostly Maine Coon cat with paws the size of ping pong paddles and the sweetest disposition ever. I left the house looking for a kitten and came home with a mountain lion. She's the sweetest, calmest, most laid back cat, and is already exploring the house and ignoring Sophie. For her part Sophie is curious but not overly excited - "So, we have a cat again? Cool."

I'm just laughing at myself because I went out for a kitten and came back with a cat that is bigger than my dog.

Excellent choice, Catherine. Whoever made the choice is now irrelevant. Welcome Ellie.

She really does look very laid back - willing to sit calmly for her portrait! Pretty markings, nice expression.
I think Ellie is a winner.

Adopting an adult is a seriously good deed - the cutesy kittens have a much better chance of being re-homed. Ellie's lucky day!

All the best to the three of you,

Gae, in Callala Bay

Oh, I think Ellie would have been grabbed by someone in the next day or so, she's that lovely. I'm lucky to have grabbed her before someone else did.

Maine Coons are really cool. This would be my next one.
Best of luck with her.

Oh she is lovely. If i were to get a cat, a Maine Coon would definitely be at the top of the list.

She's beautiful, and she matches your rug! LOL

But seriously, she sounds like a perfect match for you and Sophie. Congratulations!

I nearly always prefer a grown animal. She's a pretty thing.
