Everyone in the office agreed that this was four days that felt like eternity. It happens when you wake up in the middle of the night, overwhelmed by the To Do list, with, yanno, only millions of dollars and the company's future hanging in the balance. Nothing much at all.
But it ended on a very positive note - the project that was consuming my time and mental energy and waking me in the night with stress nightmares (and which was basically a dog of a project that shouldn't have survived this long) was given a long overdue mercy killing today. It was wrong from the get-go IMNSHO, but for various reasons I won't bore you with here, was allowed to proceed. Crusty construction manager, finance guy and I finally got everybody to focus and agree: time to stop trying to make it work. It isn't going to work at this time.
I'll sleep like a baby this weekend - now I only have a couple of other life-or-death projects and a swarm of little matters on my plate!
