Pictures after I get most of my worldly goods cleaned off and back in place, because damn, this was a messy process. But oh so worth it. The floor is gorgeous. The linty, fuzzy, hard to clean white carpet of doom is already fading like a bad dream.
Today the dogs had to say goodbye to the Smiling Installer and his Shy But Sweet Sidekick. Sophie will be crushed - she adored them. They arrived yesterday and today and she greeted them like long-lost relatives, and they loved her in return. The dogs are still adjusting to the new floor beneath their feet. It's not slippery for humans, but if you are used to digging your toenails into the carpet and peeling out at high speed, yeah, that doesn't work now. We've had a couple of ignominious fails resembling Bambi on ice, but they are adjusting fast.
But they are catching on, and Murphy thinks this is the best thing that has happened in years. He has been belly down and flat as a small throw rug in classic frog dog on the nice, cool new floor all evening. Both dogs lived on hard surface floors before so it's not a new concept, and it is a refreshingly cool place to sleep on a warm day. And Sophie has reclaimed her place on the back of the big chair, so all is well in the dogs' world. They'll be a little confused when they aren't herded into the guest room tomorrow. They've had few days of freedom since this insanity began, and we are all looking forward to a few days off from contractors. Next up: countertops, lighting, and minor tweaks! We are on the home stretch.
Hooray! Looking forward to the pictures. What will you cook to inaugurate your kitcg
ReplyDeleteHen?
We just finished a big bathroom project and our cats are on the same page as your dogs! They were so suspicious when we didn't toss them into the bedroom the first day after it was done.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I call the dog frog position "the poultry position." They always look like a dog just waiting to be stuffed....
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the remodel, I know you will be glad when it's done!

We wouldn't mind seeing a picture of the Yorkie along with the pictures of the new floor. . .(just sayin' is all) There is a piece of vinyl flooring in my basement that is only about three by four, and my other Yorkie used to lay there on her belly in the Road Kill position.
ReplyDeleteYippeee!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see pik-shurs
Excellent news! The dogs are going to love that floor as much as you, with the coolness. Wolfie goes all flat out like Murphy. We have all ceramic tile except one room and it's vinyl.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your refurbed Abode!
