Friday!

Gentle Headdesk.

Still enjoying the crazy of the job.  So far, so good.

Got to meet the voice on the phone late this afternoon, we awkwardly shook hands, both unsure whether hugging was appropriate, and my hands were full at the time. I had no idea what he'd look like, but an average height guy with close-cropped silver hair is generic enough to fit the bill.  He immediately got on the computer and phone, because he's a workaholic, so I left him the hell alone.  After the submittal going in next week is done, I'll grab him by the neck and get an hour of his time, but all I wanted to do today was leave the night people to their crazy working hours and go home.

I'm not a workaholic.  I used to be, and we all know where that got me.  Now, I really do try to keep it to a reasonable 40ish hours a week.  I'd worked through lunch, canceling Sophie's pedicure (trimming of that crazy nail that curves and grows down into the pad of her little toe) and rescheduling it for tomorrow morning, because something needed my attention.  So, shortly before five, I stuck my head into the boss's office and said:

"Do you need me for anything else? SAY NO!"

He laughed,

"I need you for a thousand things...."

"I AM LEAVING NOW."

"Have a great weekend!"

And with that, I was gone.  And that's why this job suits very well, so far.
