Laundry is running. I need to put clean sheets on the bed before I can crawl into it.
Girlmama is now somewhat obsessed with the neighborhood we saw yesterday, and it is now set as her standard. She's going to go tour again with her husband as soon as they have a day off in common, and I'll put her in touch with a lender to do the math on how far they are from buying/what they need to focus on to get to the goal line.
And I put my reading glasses on and read the label on the baby snacks I bought for Miss D - the cookies are a go, and the apple flavored puffs are just as Murphy friendly! I had no idea! Supergirl ate the same things in AVL, and I somehow never bothered to read the label. The apple puffs are fat free, easy to gum, and contain some potassium, but are otherwise just a thing to use to practice self feeding.
Miss D has not mastered feeding herself puffs. Her chair was full of puffs that missed her mouth. No problem - I just tossed them to the floor, and Murphy and Sophie fell on them like they were the best things ever!
I'm pretty sure that if I'd brought them home and offered them directly, they'd both look at me like I was out of my mind. The key to their success is Miss D. Their beloved baby likes them and shares them, so they are the COOLEST SNACKS EVAR!! And I'm just laughing because they are so much cheaper and better for Murphy than any dog treat I'd hunted down at great effort and expense. If I'd tried this a year ago and had Supergirl introduce apple puffs and arrowroot cookies then, oh, the money I'd have saved!
Years, no, make that decades ago, when a friend was in that beginning self feeding stage with her little ones, she used to put the mashed vege-smeared chair out for the Labrador. Five minutes of slurping later there wouldn't be a shred of mashed carrot in sight, and then she would clean the chair 'properly'. The Labrador tongue was much more efficient at cleaning up the array of coloured beads decorating the front of the tray.

Yes, we used to let the Golden do the first cleaning on food encrusted stuff, then we'd wash it for the next meal. They are so wonderfully motivated about cleaning every nook and cranny! Hot water and detergent follow up and it's like new.
