At least 3 inches of rain fell just in the last 24 hours, and I'm willing to bet we've had a foot of rain in the last week. Debby is just sitting in the Gulf of Mexico, dragging insane amounts of rainfall over Florida. We're under a tornado watch until 2 p.m., the power has gone off twice, and the center of the storm is nowhere near us.
The computer models mostly had been predicting that Debby would head west, with only a couple of models aiming the storm at Florida, but as of this morning they're split pretty much 50-50 - it's a coin toss whether the storm will come this way or go that way.
Somehow Debby just snuck up on us - the other day it was a "system in the Gulf" they were "keeping an eye on" and suddenly we're drowning. I guess it's safe to say the drought is over!
1 p.m. P.S.:

Oh shit.
oh, shit. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteDebby is going to ruin my birthday! My daughter had this great idea to do a day trip to St. Augustine and then meander back and stop at High Tides in Flagler Beach, and now we are shelving that for another day. We will still do that this summer, just not on my actual birthday.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how she just sat there and poured without moving on more quickly. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteAnd now that Debby has come ashore, the rain is winding down here. I understand that the north side of the storm is getting soaked and that's bad, because the northern counties aren't as sandy and absorbent as we are. This was just a weird storm.
ReplyDeletegood lord! I'm glad you all didn't have to grow fins or be rescued by boat. I'm sorry still, and 30 thousand + people evacuated because of a fire in Colorado? Did you feel that little kiss on your forehead? Well, make that two.
