I discontinued the pain med after yesterday morning's dose, because I strongly suspected it was the cause of the sudden explosive poopies, and possibly was actually making him MORE uncomfortable. He's eating and drinking fine and I didn't see him rubbing at his mouth with his paws, so I just watched him to see if he seemed distressed. He seems to be feeling much better.
He slept soundly all night and hasn't had the runs since, so I think yesterday's poop confetti was caused by the medication.
The cat is still torturing me by screaming for breakfast at 4 a.m. I am tired and grumpy.
The good news is that the weather forecast calls for days of desperately needed rain. I wish I could curl up on the couch with knitting and a movie and nap, but that's not on the schedule. But I'm very relieved that the little patient is doing much better!
Yay!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you are feeling better, too, as well as dear, little Murphy. Hope you get some nice gentle rains, too.
Hugs!

It's a good thing you know your dogs.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing I don't live in central Florida. I have enough on my plate as it is.
I'm not feeling better yet - I'm hoping a long, uninterrupted night's sleep tonight will reboot me. Higgins will probably screw that up.
ReplyDeletehooray for Murphy and his gals
ReplyDeleteMurphy will do just fine without the bad teeth. An elderly dog who lived with me for a while is still going strong at 17 (beagle/border collie cross). He likes jerky for a special treat - he can gum it into submission.
ReplyDeleteWishing you rain and naps, and soon!
With any toothless dog we always refer to their efforts with biscuits and such like as:
ReplyDelete"Giving it a terrible awful suck!"
And most of them manage quite happily, once their mouths have healed, the gums hardened up, and they are confident that chewing won't hurt.
